By day, Elly Poletti is a music teacher with a passion and drive for engaging youth in the art of music and performing. In 2019, Elly was the recipient of the Unsung Hero’s award for Music Teacher of the Year through Education HQ. Elly teaches voice at surrounding secondary schools where she lives, but on weekends, she is performing in Melbourne, usually in her shows where she performs the music of artists such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper.
Elly has performed in local community theatre shows and has been recognised at the annual Bruce Awards for Best Female Support and Best First on Stage Performance. She has also been recognised for her work as an assistant musical director at the Bruce Awards.
Elly has performed in such festivals as the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival, Melbourne White Night Festival and performed in some iconic venues such as John Cain Arena, The Forum, Melbourne Convention Centre, Federation Square, The Botanic Gardens, The Paris Cat, The Athenaeum Theatre, The Meat Market, The National Theatre and Chapel off Chapel.
In 2023, Elly auditioned for Australia’s ‘The Voice’ and made it through to the top 6 artists on Guy Sebastians team.
She has supported well-known artists such as The Black Sorrows, Clare Bowditch, Kate Ceberano, Steph Strings, Diddiri, Jack Jones and has worked with the Melbourne Indie Voices as one of their guest artists. Elly also sang on the album ‘With a Grain of Salt’ by Daniel Young from ‘Muph & Plutonic’ and in the song ‘We Sing’ by Kutcha Edwards. She also performed in a secret and intimate concert for Robbie Williams back in 2015 at the Paris Cat Jazz Club.
Elly is inspired by the likes of artists such as Adele, Paul Kelly, Beyonce, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Tash Sultana, Blue Juice, Missy Higgins and Alicia Keys. This eclectic mix of influences is evident in her original music where she applies her powerful vocals and strong musicianship.
